Sean Lennon’s Tributes to His Father

Sean Lennon was only 5 years old when John died. John was just moments away from tucking his 5 year old into bed when he was murdered outside.

Only 5 years old when John was murdered. Think back to memories of when you were 5 years old. You likely have quite a few, but imagine one of your parents was taken from you around that age. You probably remember bits and pieces, but would have to rely on the the memories of others to find out what your parent was like and who they were. Sean addresses that topic in this tribute he’d written and recorded for his father:

“All that I knew of you is what people told me. Though I remember the scar on your chin.”

It’s a truly heart breaking tribute to the father he never got the chance to know personally.

Sean & John Lennon shared a birthday. It’s kind of odd to realize that the day after the 35th anniversary of his father’s death, he will have lived longer than his father did.

Sean is also willing to lend a hand when it comes to tributes to John Lennon. He’s done so several times over the years. Check out his covers of “Julia”, “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away” & “This Boy”
