Sean Ono Lennon, working with filmmakers Dave Mullins and Brad Booker, co-created the animated short film WAR IS OVER! Inspired by the Music of John & Yoko. The film, which centers on a wartime carrier pigeon transporting messages between two soldiers playing chess across a battlefield, garnered critical acclaim, including the 2023 Academy Award for Best Animated Short. This cinematic work directly channels the spirit of John Lennon and Yoko Ono‘s enduring peace message, “War is over if you want it,” first popularized through their 1969 billboard campaign.
WAR IS OVER! will have its World Premiere on the John Lennon YouTube channel at 12pm Central on December 1st. This premiere is linked to a fundraising drive for the charity War Child (warchild.org.uk).
