Some songs are worn-in jeans, they remember the outline out your wallet and phone, completely known and comfortable. Then there are the songs that tug at your brain with a distant déjà vu feeling, the “I swear I’ve heard that before” feeling. Or the songs that make you double-take at the speaker, because “what the -.”
I came to KQ knowing I wanted to have a show that went to the fringes, went to late nights, went left of the dial. After a little brainstorming I told The Boss that it was just a show that “Broke KQ” – broke the format, and broke from tradition (even more than we were already doing).
Breaking KQRS is an hour to hear whatever feels right for the day, most of the time with a theme, but sometimes not (because I don’t like rules). The perfect show will combine something you love, something you haven’t heard in a while, something new to you, and something that gets me called into the office the next day.
