COLLECTIVE SOUL – TOUCH AND GO
After three decades of alt-rock success, Collective Soul have thrown themselves an unexpected curveball. Touch and Go finds the band embracing a distinctly New Wave sound, it’s almost as if they spent their entire last tour with The Cars on repeat. It’s nice to see a band so heavily associated with the grunge sound of the ’90s leaning into synth textures, streamlined hooks, and bright arrangements give songs like “Rainbow” and “Eye On You” a different flavor than fans might expect.

GREEN DAY – NIMRODS ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK
The fact that there’s a stoner comedy about a young band road tripping to try and open for Green Day coming out in 2026 seems like an indicator that the love obsession with all things ’90s is still going strong. The soundtrack for the film, Nimrods, isn’t trying to do anything complicated (stoner flick, remember) so yeah you get a mix of Green Day classics with deep cuts, some unreleased live recordings, and even a new song “I’m Never Gonna R.I.P.” which is a rock-a-billy detour that is unexpectedly delightful.
JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS – BAD REPUTATION 45TH ANNIVERSARY
Forty-five years ago, Joan Jett was trying to prove herself as a rocking phoenix who survived the flames of The Runaways. Bad Reputation is a resume builder of a debut, a mix of attitude driven covers and a rager of a lead single in the title track. The original was sold directly to fans, didn’t get much chart traction, but build a steady ground floor for who Joan Jett was going to be as a solo artist. The anniversary edition takes you back to the youthful rebellion with updated artwork, bonus tracks, and previously unreleased material to reflect on where Joan was at during that chaotic time.

TOM MORELLO – “DATE NIGHT”
The Rage Against the Machine guitarist’s latest single might be called, “Date Night,” but actually tells the true story of three Dutch teens who fought Nazi occupation during World War II, which feels extremely on brand for Tom Morello. Musically, it’s built around a riff written by Morello’s son Roman, who also contributes throughout the upcoming album, Everyone Gets Everything They Want. Morello has described the new track as a “which side are you on?” song, and the message comes through loud and clear.
