THE BEATLES – IN MONO
Are you a completionist? Big fan of The Beatles? A massive collection of The Beatles first nine LPs (the UK versions) are being re-released for the first time in a decade. The Beatles in Mono is 14 albums that look the same as they did when they were originally released with mono mixes from Grammy award winners, Sean Magee and Steve Berkowitz, so they will sound different (they added some different vocal effects, speeding things up and slowing things down).

BUSH – I BEAT LONELINESS
Bush has never been a band that veered to the lighter side of things. On their 10th album, I Beat Loneliness, that darkness drips over everything. It’s a driving and questioning album, facing off against all the symptoms of loneliness and as the title leads, there is some hopeful moments. The band sounds youthful, Gavin Rossdale‘s voice is still great, even nearing 60, and the band delivers with a sound that is an updated version of the Bush of the ’90s.

JONATHAN RICHMAN – ONLY FROZEN SKY ANYWAY
Indie rock’s loveable outsider, Jonathan Richman, released his 18th solo record, Only Frozen Sky Anyway. A reflective album, as Richman says, it “is about how our friends are leaving, in their dying, on an errand, only to return in another role.” And there are friends returning on the album, Jerry Harrison (of Talking Heads), rejoins his old Modern Lovers bandmate on several songs.

SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE – THE FIRST FAMILY: LIVE AT THE WINCHESTER CATHEDRAL 1967
Before “Dance to the Music” and “Everyday People,” Sly and the Family Stone were just coming together and solidifying their sound (and their name) when they played a show at the after-hours club Winchester Cathedral in Redwood City, California. That live show led to the group getting signed to Epic records and the release of their first record. The First Family: Live at the Winchester Cathedral 1967, is a time capsule; it is wild and loose, and fun. It lays the foundation for understanding the psychedelic soul pioneers.
