FOO FIGHTERS – “TODAY’S SONG”
It’s been a troubling time for Foo Fighters, losing Taylor Hawkins who joined the band in 1997, and for Dave Grohl, who fathered a child outside of his marriage and the band has been quiet since the news broke. The first sign of new music since 2023’s But Here We Are, is the introspective and repetitive, “Today’s Song.” It almost seems like the old mantra: accept the things you can’t change, courage to change the things you can, and wisdom to know the difference. It’s a slow builder, but Foo Fighters always know how to rock out while they are lyrically introspective.

MUSE – “UNRAVELLING”
A dark, swirling, and dramatic synth driven sound pulsates and pushes Muse forward with a new song, “Unravelling.” The single is a heavy song that sees frontman Matt Bellamy using an eight-string guitar for the first time in a song, leading to their heaviest sound yet.

THE SWELL SEASON – FORWARD
The success of the musical, Once, brought attention to Glen Hansard (frontman of The Frames) and his folk rock partner in The Swell Season, Marketa Irglova. The Irish musicians are releasing their first record together in 16 years with, Forward. They’ve managed to dive back into the well that inspired them the first time around, it feels like you’re sitting in a small Irish pub listening to them live; it’s organic, but their melodies and harmonies are perfectly in sync.
