ZZ Top singer and guitarist Billy Gibbons will release his third solo album on June 4th.

Regarding the new album, Hardware, Gibbons says, “We holed up in the desert for a few weeks in the heat of the summer and that in itself was pretty intense. To let off steam we just ‘let it rock’ and that’s what Hardware is really all about. For the most part, it’s a raging rocker but always mindful of the desert’s implicit mystery.”

Joining Gibbons on the album is former Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum, who not only co-produced the album with him, but also co-wrote 11 of the 12 songs.

The album’s first single, “West Coast Junkie,” is out now. The video was filmed near Joshua Tree, a stone’s throw from the studio.

Hardware follows 2015’s Perfectamundo and 2018’s The Big Bad Blues.

Rock Review is heard weekdays at 12:10pm and 8:10pm on 92 KQRS
