Brian De Palma (Scarface) directed the video for Springsteen\’s \”Dancing in the Dark\”.
Filmed live in concert at St. Paul Civic Center, the song was performed twice to ensure De Palma had all the shots he\’d need.
The video\’s notable for featuring a 19-year-old Courteney Cox, who is brought on stage to dance with The Boss.

The day after shooting the video in St. Paul, \”Dancing in the Dark\” peaked at #2 on the charts where it stayed for 3 weeks.
It likely would have gone #1, if it hadn\’t been for the biggest song of 1984: \”When Doves Cry\” by Prince.

JULY 1, 1971: AQUALUNG CERTIFIED GOLD
Aqualung, Jethro Tull\’s fourth album, remains their biggest selling album.
Aqualung wasted no time going Gold, selling 500,000 copies 3½ months after its release.
Featuring \”Aqualung\” and \”Locomotive Breath\” it\’s sold 3 million copies in the US and nearly 4 million worldwide.

JULY 3, 1971: JIM MORRISON DIES
2½ months after the release of The Doors\’ L.A. Woman, Jim Morrison died in Paris.
The coroner listed \”heart failure\” as the cause. However, an autopsy wasn\’t performed. French law did not require one.
Like Hendrix, Joplin and Brian Jones before him, Morrison was 27.
