4th of July Activity Guide

How does one ‘Fourth of July’ during a global pandemic? With the cancellation of many events, there are still plenty of options that will make for a stellar Independence Day…

As always please remember to practice safe social distancing and wear a mask while in public. Most importantly, don’t let FOMO get in the way – please stay home if you are not feeling well.


Live Fireworks

Chanhassen will continue on with their fireworks display but are encouraging patrons to watch from home. There will be no general seating or parking available at Lake Ann Park.

Lakeville will host live entertainment and a spectacular aerial fireworks display at dusk.

The Prior Lake fireworks show is still on! The plan is to launch the fireworks around 10 p.m. from Watzl’s Beach in Lakefront Park.

Outside of the metro…

Travel to Alexandria for their annual Star Storm 2020 July 4th Fireworks!

The Cannon Falls 2020 Grande Day Parade is cancelled but there will still be fireworks.

The 2020 Celebrate America over Sand Island on Cross Lake will have Fireworks at dusk.

The Rutgers Fireworks Show in Deerwood on the Shore of Bay Lake will be open to the public.

In Owatonna, the fireworks display held at the Steele County Fairgrounds.

Red Wing\’s Mississippi Alumination will be celebrating our Independence Day with a fireworks show that can be viewed from many different areas of Red Wing.


Virtual Fun

Edina 4th of July Parade

Edina normally marks Independence Day with its traditional Fourth of July parade, concert, and fireworks. For 2020, the city will be hosting a virtual parade experience, with clips from community and entertainment groups, and tributes to grand marshals. The parade will be broadcast on Comcast channels 15 and 16 at 10 a.m. and posted on the City of Edina\’s YouTube channel.

Tangletown 4th of July Picnic and Parade

In St. Paul, you can join in the fun at home by decorating your sidewalk/window/yard/home, complete a neighborhood scavenger hunt, and walk the neighborhood to enjoy the decorations (a map of registered locations will be provided).


Parades

The annual Happy Birthday America Parade in Shakopee will kick off at 11 am on its new route starting at the City of Shakopee Community Center. You can even attend! Of course, social distancing will be required. Residents are encouraged to bring decorated bikes and wagons, and can cool off afterward with an ice pop.
