While this isn’t technically a Christmas album, it was a Christmas gift from Paul McCartney to John, George and Ringo.

It’s commonly referred to as Unforgettable aka The McCartney Christmas Album. One of the earliest mixtapes! Paul put together a “mixtape” of songs he thought the other Beatles would enjoy during the holiday. Songs he loved and songs he was sure the other Beatles had never heard before.

In addition to those songs (listed below) he including experimental tape loops like those heard on “Tomorrow Never Knows” and did his best impression of an American disc jockey between songs.

McCartney had the finished results transferred to acetate disc and gave the three discs as gifts to John, George and Ringo. Naturally, throughout the years, the original discs have been lost or become unplayable.

Widely bootlegged, the results of McCartney’s experiment have been uploaded to YouTube. Read more at Dangerous Minds.
