Thirty-nine years after it was released, AC/DC‘s Back in Black has been certified 25 times platinum.

The ranking, announced by the Recording Industry Association of American, means the 1980 album has sold 25 million copies in the U.S. alone. The milestone makes Back in Black the fourth best-selling album of all time in the U.S., behind the EaglesTheir Greatest Hits (38 times platinum), Michael Jackson‘s Thriller (33 times platinum) and the EaglesHotel California (26 times platinum).

Worldwide, an estimated 50 million copies of Back in Black have been sold, making it second only to Thriller.

The album, which introduced fans to singer Brian Johnson, features such AC/DC classics as “You Shook Me All Night Long,” “Shoot to Thrill,” “Hell’s Bells,” and, of course, the title track.
