OCTOBER 2, 2017: TOM PETTY DIES
Tom Petty suffered an early morning heart attack on October 2, 2017.

He was taken off life support after family and bandmates said their goodbyes.

OCTOBER 2, 1971: ROD STEWART\’S #1\’s
Rod Stewart scored a #1 hit with the \”Maggie May\” b/w \”Reason to Believe\” single on the same day his Every Picture Tells a Story album went to #1.

OCTOBER 4, 1970: JANIS JOPLIN DIES

Concern for her well-being grew when she failed to show to a recording session.

She passed away from an accidental heroin overdose.

She was 27 years old.
